Therapeutic Consultation: Personalized Support for Meaningful Progress
Therapeutic Consultation is a person-centered service designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities and their support teams navigate behavioral, emotional, and skill-building challenges.
At Positive Reinforcement, our Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBAs) and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) work closely with families, residential providers, and support staff to deliver tailored strategies that foster independence and enhance quality of life.
Our consultants partner with each individual’s team to:
- Understand their unique strengths and needs
- Develop effective, individualized behavior support plans
- Train and empower the people who support them every day
The result is a confident, informed support system that works together to create consistent, positive change.
Who is Eligible?
Our Therapeutic Consultation services are available to individuals who:
- Receive services through a Virginia Medicaid Waiver (family and individual support waiver or community living waiver)
- Exhibit behavioral concerns at home or in the community
- Need support in building communication, daily living, or coping skills
- Are navigating transitions such as independent living or changes in care
- Have caregivers or support staff who would benefit from training or guidance

What We Provide
Therapeutic Consultation services at Positive Reinforcement are always personalized. Depending on the needs of the individual and their environment, services may include:
- Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)
- Individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP)
- Ongoing coaching for caregivers and staff
- Recommendations for environmental supports
- Crisis prevention strategies
- Team collaboration and coordination across home, school, and community settings
- Data collection, progress monitoring, and plan revisions
